2012 Ford Explorer Delivers Best-In-Class Fuel Economy

Ford revolutionized the Explorer with its 2011 model, taking it from okay to "North American Truck of the Year". Featuring a more sophisticate silhouette and suite of advanced technology features such as MyFord Touch, Terrain Management System, inflatable rear safety belts, BLIS with cross traffic alert, and active park assist, it has realized nearly twice as many sales as the 2010 model.
It might be hard to image what Ford could do to make the 2012 Ford Explorer even better. Rest assured they've found a way. The new Explorer, available at Spradley Barr of Greeley by the end of August, is reported to deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency thanks to the addition of a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that delivers 28 mpg/highway.
The outgoing 2011 Ford Explorer, by contrast, was fitted with a more traditional 3.5-liter V6. To enhance the robust power and envious fuel-efficiency of the new EcoBoost Engine, Ford has also engineered the new 2012 Ford Explorer with a more aerodynamic design, variable-displacement air conditioning compressor, electric power-assist steering, and 6F35 six-speed automatic transmission. It's even designed to run on low-friction, efficiency-optimizing motor oil, 5W-GF5.
What about power? Don't worry, while the 2012 Ford Explorer is easier on your wallet and the environment, it offers 240 rearing-and-ready-to-go ponies of power and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. Simply stated: it's fully capable of taking you and your boat, trailer, or other favorite toys wherever, whenever.
