Ford recently hosted the Ford Driving Skills for Life contest, inviting teen songwriters from across the country t o submit an original song focused on the perils of distracted driving. Triumphing their competition with 520,000 public votes and the official nod of approval by Shawn Wilson, President of Usher's New Look Foundation, five teens have been named winners.

In addition to the aforementioned bonds, winners of the Ford Driving Skills for Life songwriting contest also won a free trip to Usher's New Look Foundation World Leadership Conference. There, they will speak in a workshop with R&B artist Usher and country music star and Celebrity Apprentice John Rich.

"Ford is taking a leadership role in educating teens about safe driving," says Jim Vella, President of Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. "Ford is passionate about helping young drivers, which helps keep the roads safer for all of us. We are proud to partner with Usher's New Look Foundation on the 'Belt it Out' contest."¹.

In addition to the five grand-prize winners, who received a $5,000 savings bond each from Ford. One second place winner received a $3,000 bond. And, a third-place winner: a $1,000 bond.

Ford established Ford Driving Skills for Life eight years ago, in cooperation with the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA). It represents one of the country's most comprehensive teen driver safety programs available today. In addition to hosting the Ford Driving Skills for Life songwriting contest, Ford is investing another one-million dollars to help expand the company's efforts to reduce teen crashes...They're also bringing their free driving skills clinic to high schools in fifteen different states.Stay tuned to learn more about Ford safety initiatives.
