Ford has been taking big steps to be a leader in the eco-friendly automotive world. With vehicles such as the Ford Fusion Hybrid, getting just under 40 combined mpg, it is easy to see that Ford is looking to make more "Smart Cars."
Current versions of the Fusion are available at Spradley Barr of Greeley in Greeley, CO. Next year, Ford claims the gas-electric hybrid receives 47 miles per gallon city, outdoing EPA ratings from the competition in that class.
Currently all Ford Fusions are made in Mexico and with projected high demand for the sedan Ford has decided to open a second factory in Detroit. If successful, "The new Fusion may help Detroit drop what intransigence remains on fuel efficiency and explode with the technologically advanced cars everyone knew it could make," according to Boston Globe.1
Ford plans on a plug-in electric Fusion as well. This model reportedly gets an equivalent of 100 miles per gallon. The auto maker boasts it is the most fuel-efficient midsize cars in the world.
