Ford Expands to Detroit for Fusion Manufacturing

Ford has been taking big steps to be a leader in the eco-friendly automotive world. With vehicles such as the Ford Fusion Hybrid, getting just under 40 combined mpg, it is easy to see that Ford is looking to make more "Smart Cars."

Current versions of the Fusion are available at Spradley Barr of Greeley in Greeley, CO. Next year, Ford claims the gas-electric hybrid receives 47 miles per gallon city, outdoing EPA ratings from the competition in that class.

Currently all Ford Fusions are made in Mexico and with projected high demand for the sedan Ford has decided to…

A Sneak Peak of Things to Come for LINCOLN

When LINCOLN's parent company, Ford first announced that they would be revamping the LINCOLN brand experience for customers, we here at Spradley Barr of Greeley were a bit skeptical. What more could Ford really have to offer customers that isn't already featured in their new models? As it turns out, there is quite a bit that Ford and LINCOLN have left up their sleeves, and they're getting closer each day to implementing them.

Derrick Kuzak, Ford's group vice president of global product development, assures us that he is happy with the direction that LINCOLN has taken…

Lincoln To Get Inflatable Seat Belts

LINCOLN cars are above all in luxury, performance and safety. Now, these American made vehicles are going to be even safer. Upcoming rides, like the LINCOLN MKS, will have a new inflatable seat belt option.

"This advanced restraint system is designed to help reduce head, neck, and chest injuries for rear-seat passengers, often children, and older passengers who can be more vulnerable to such injuries," said Sue Cischke, Ford group vice president of Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering.1

Each high-tech strap contains an airbag that deploys in an accident, and expands to cover five times more of the occupant…

A Face Lift For Lincoln

A portion of the cash LINCOLN makes will go towards dealerships selling the all new LINCOLN MKS. Over the next couple years LINCOLN will receive a fresh new look.

Under the restructuring plan, standalone LINCOLN dealers in urban markets will have to spend $1 million in upgrades. Combined Ford and LINCOLN dealers will have to divvy up a cool $1.9 million for these renovations.

According to the American auto maker, remodels must be completed within a two-year timeframe. LINCOLN expects to introduce seven new "or significantly refreshed models within three years." So, the dealers must be ready to accommodate…

Ford Uses Dandelions To Make Car Parts

As cute and sunshiny as they are, dandelions have earned themselves quite a bad reputation over the years - especially among homeowners who pride themselves on maintaining the perfect lush, green lawn. To American automaker, Ford, however, the common weed is recognized as an increasingly valuable resource.

Apparently, the milky-white substance contained within the dandelion root can be used to make a plant-based rubber, which could eventually take the form of cup holders, door mats, and interior trim. The variety of dandelion Ford is particularly interested in, and which the Ohio State University agriculture research center (OSU) is using is the…

Talking Cars From Ford Coming Soon

Ford UK is working on advanced WiFi and GPS systems, which will one day allow cars to communicate with other vehicles on roads. The service will be available on upcoming Ford Focus models. "The company claims drivers will be able to use it to ask such age-old questions as 'Where's the nearest petrol station?', 'Can I go to the toilet?' - or even that constant refrain of generations of children, 'Are we nearly there yet?'" - the Daily Mail reports.

Ford Motor Co. is demonstrating the technology before The Washington Auto Show. The system sends out multiple messages per second about…

What in the World Are Inflatable Seatbelts?

If you recently purchased a revamped 2010 Ford Explorer SUV, you've likely heard of inflatable seat belts. If not, such a thing might sounds like a concept featured in a kids' cartoon. The reality is they are a masterful safety feature that Ford Motor Co. worked on for nearly a decade before releasing them into the market.

Essentially, inflatable seatbelts are exactly what they sound to be: seatbelts that inflate. Until they're inflated…

Ford - No Focus 3-Door Hatchback or Coupe

Sorry Hatchback fans, but Ford announced that a hatchback model of the Ford Focus, as well as a new sports coupe, will not be into production anytime soon. The Ford Fiesta will be taking over the hatchback responsibilities for Ford.

"Wild speculation about a Focus coupe is making the rounds on websites in Europe, led by the attached link to Auto Express. I can tell you right now -- and the coupe lovers hate to hear this -- but there are no plans for this model. What do you think: Honestly, is there volume in the coupe market anymore, or is five-door…
